Excavator
It is important that when you are buying an excavator, you know exactly what you are purchasing. This is where confusion can occur. There are so many makes and models on the market, how can you be sure which one you need or what make or model is best? Whatever you decide the best advice is to do your research and make sure that you are conversant with specifications and terms used referring to excavators.
For example, the term "cat excavator." What does this refer to? The term "cat" can mean two things, depending on how it is used. If it is typed in capital letters (CAT) then is usually means the name or brand model of the excavator. However is it is typed in small letters (cat) it can be referring to the type of excavator, for example, it being a caterpillar type of excavator. This will mean that the piece of equipment will usually have caterpillar tracks rather than wheels. You need to be sure what term is being implied. If you buy a cat type of excavator assuming you have bought a brand name, then you may have difficulties when you need to buy extra attachments or spare parts. They may be more expensive than you originally thought they might be, or obscure and difficult to track down. If you are buying a new excavator this confusion is less likely to occur as you can ask the outlet exactly what you are buying and be specific in what information you need to make your purchase. However, if you are buying from a third party, or through an advertisement, then you need to exercise more care. Be very specific in the questions you ask, including, if "cat" is being used as a generic term, how easily available the spare parts and attachments are, and the cost of the parts. Before you buy you cat excavator, sit down and think about what you need it for. Excavators come in many different sizes and it may be that a smaller model would suit your need better. Compact excavators are available as a branded cat excavator and with other models so it should not be difficult to find one that suits you. Common uses for the smaller compact excavators are landscaping and digging out area where large excavators are unable to reach. Larger excavators are used throughout many industries. These include, agriculture, forestry and construction. They can be fitted with attachments that further increase their usefulness. As a general rule of thumb, before you go to a manufacturer, or reply to an advertisement, make sure that you know exactly what you need your excavator to do. Also make sure that you know what you are buying in regards to make, model and name branding. |
