The term 'caterpillar excavator' can refer either the brand name of a certain manufacturer, or it can be a generic term for excavators that run on caterpillar type tracks. If you are purchasing an attachment that is not the same trade make as your excavator you must ensure that the equipment will fit your excavator. Confusion can sometimes occur over the trade name of Caterpillar and the generic term when used for all excavators of a certain type. Because of this, when buying an excavator, make sure you are one hundred percent certain that you know what you are buying, and also that you can obtain the necessary parts and attachments that you will require in the future. It is because there are so many makes and models of so called caterpillar excavators, that the buyer must not assume that an excavator advertised as a caterpillar excavator is always going to be the trade make, as the person placing the advert. Might simply be using a generic term. |
