With designs that easily go from flat pavement to heavy soil, the multi-terrain line is meant to serve a number of different purposes.

The Caterpillar loader line designed for multi-terrain use is rather extensive. Featuring more than half-dozen individual models, this line features machines meant to handle small jobs, large jobs and just about anything in between.

The 247B model, for example, offers 57 hp of net power. This model has a 50 percent tipping load of 1,950 pounds. It is designed to work with a number of attachments, as well, to lend to its multi-terrain versatility.

Tool attachments that can be used with this model include augers, backhoe devices, blades and even brush cutters. This machine is at home on pavement as it is on dirt inclines.

The model features a rubber track undercarriage for low ground pressure, maximum stability, high traction and fairly fast travel. It also offers Caterpillar's hystat power train for performance and operation enhancements.

The 287B is the mid-range model in the multi-terrain Caterpillar loader line. This machine features 78 hp and a 50 percent tipping load of 3,600 pounds. It features all the bells and whistle of the 247B, but backs them with more power behind the effort.

The 297C is the biggest in the multi-terrain Caterpillar loader line. This model features 90 hp and a 50 percent tipping load of 4,233 pounds. It works well with brush cutter attachments and also features the rubber track undercarriage.

This particular model also has vertical lift linkage for difficult conditions and has some major driver perks inside the cab. The operator station itself is sealed and pressurized with attention to leg and head room. It operates using seat-mounted joystick controls and has an air ride seat for optimum comfort levels.
