A Front End Loader: The Answer
|
Front end loaders are a functional description as well as a specific type of earth moving equipment. Tractors used on the farm have front end loader attachments which are used to help farmers store hay, muck out the chicken coop (especially the big ones) and barns. They are used to move piles of earth and clean up construction sites and are the backbone of landscaping projects. Front end loaders are equipment or attachments consisting of a forked hydraulic system that supports an elongated bucket or scoop. In the case of a front end loader attachment, it is mounted to the front of farm tractors by means of a physical assembly which connects it to the tractor's hydraulics and power take-off. Equipment that is built to accomplish the tasks of the front end loader is often built with a heavy steel cage surrounding the operator which protects them from falling brush and debris. These have large armored wheels which may have four wheel drives or not. These special front end loaders are frequently used to assist in building fire brakes during special forestry operations to control wild fires. Farmers can place an attachment on the front end of the tractor which operates in the same manner as a front end loader. This attachment even has an extension which allows the farmer to move larger circular bales of hay. Other times it can be used with the loader bucket teeth to pick up rectangular bales of hay in the hay barn. Scooping out the much in a 10,000 - 15,000 colony chicken barn is an ideal task for the front end loader. It can extend under the chicken cages and scoop up or out the leavings. The front end loader quickly keeps colony chicken farm sanitary. Before its' economic advent such tasks were onerous and odorous! The front end loader is often used to fill dump trucks when hauling large amounts of excavated dirt. It is also used to cleanup the worksite which must for safety sake be maintained daily. Skilled construction workers are terrible about cleaning after themselves; so the front end loader is ideal for carrying off debris on the worksite. Smaller versions of the front end loader are manufactured by Bobcat. These are ideal for finishing construction tasks around home construction or places where the space is constricted. These are used to primarily backfill around house foundations. One of the most frequent uses for the front end loader is in the repair of leaking house foundations. The foundation and its' footing must be laid bare of earth before the leak is repaired. Dirt is removed using a back hoe and a manual shovel and is placed where it is not a dangerous overload. The foundation receives a patch to repair the hydraulic leak and a protective layer of material or coating. The front loader can quickly replace the dirt; scrape it level by backgrading the soil level. This is done after the repair. The front end loader, whether an attachment to another wheeled earth machine or as a separate piece of equipment, is very utilitarian and valuable to construction, farming and machinery. |
