Excavator

The diesel four wheel drive loader backhoe was one of the large heavy duty earth moving machines assigned by the city's transportation department to help in the massive reconstruction of northern Delaware Avenue.

The street had been a nightmare for over forty years. It snaked its' way to the south bending to the east and then quickly to the west like a roller coaster.

It was actually a series of accidents waiting to happen because of its' terrible condition. Thankfully its' upgrade occurred simultaneously with the modernization of the local city University nearby.

This meant that approximately twelve large new highway traffic signals and their associated electronic control systems, fiber optics and electrical power would replace the forty year old existing signals.

The large loader backhoe had the large pavement drill fitted to the bucket assembly boom. It worked as if it had been designed as a pneumatic drill not a loader backhoe. Today's heavy equipment is designed to handle many tasks excellently.
